Lodging Near Bonny Doon
There are many great places to stay near Bonny Doon. Santa Cruz is close and convenient and has several choices for hotels and accommodations. Felton is a little closer to Bonny Doon—just 6 miles down a twisty and windy mountain road (about a 20 minute drive). A little further south is Monterey (about a one hour drive).
If You will be staying for a night or the weekend, we highly recommend making reservations soon. Santa Cruz is a very popular destination and rooms fill up fast! Below are some recommendations on places to stay.
In Santa Cruz
- Dream Inn ($300+)
The Dream Inn is a Santa Cruz institution. It's right on the beach near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. It was recently purchased and refurnished by JDV. We have stayed at JDV hotels. They do a great job and they are progressive and environmentally proactive. - Sea & Sand Inn ($200-$300+)
- Babbling Brook Inn ($210-$270)
- Bella Notte ($200-275)
- Mission Inn ($135-160)
We have stayed here before. Basic, inexpesive (for Santa Cruz) and clean. - Terrace Court Motel ($170-400)
Right across the street from the Boardwalk. One of the few places near the Boardwalk that is OK. - If You want to stay some place other than those listed above, we strongly suggest reading the reviews at Yelp! and TripAdvisor. Also, avoid the area near the Boardwalk. Even some of the brand name motels near the Boardwalk are run down, over-priced tourist traps.
Capitola
North of Santa Cruz
- Costanoa ($130-365)
20 minutes north of Bonny Doon. Lodge, cabins, tent cabins. Kind of a new age resort. It's a very nice place. - Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel ($53-106 for a private room)
It's a hostel but possibly one of the coolest and nicest hostels and it's a lighthouse to boot. Only twenty minutes north of Bonny Doon. Highly recommended for the budget minded. - Merrybrook Lodge in Boulder Creek ($90-200)
Think mountain cabins. Budget option. - Quality Inn in Ben Lomand ($170-200)
- Fern River Resort in Felton ($100-200)
Rustic cabins in Felton for the budget minded. Mixed reviews.
