Lodging Near Bonny Doon

So if You're coming to our wedding from out of town, what should You expect from the weather?

In Santa Cruz, You should expect very sunny days and temperate to very cool nights. Santa Cruz is tucked in at the northern end of Monterey Bay. This keeps it protected from some of the strong Pacific winds and fog that is ever present off our coast for most of the summer.

If You are staying for the weekend, bring Your summer clothes and expect sunshine. But You should also bring something warm to wear at night. Sometimes the fog rolls in after sunset and sometimes it doesn't. Even if the fog stays offshore, Santa Cruz can still get cool at night and the moisture in the air from the ocean can make it feel even cooler. Expect temperatures to be anywhere from 55 to 65 at night while staying in Santa Cruz.

Bonny Doon is a little different. It's north of town and sits at an elevation of 1250 feet. The fog usually does not get that high and Bonny Doon can stay in the clear all night. While it's sunny during the day and can even get quite hot in August, it's nestled in shady Redwoods.

We are a little lucky here in California. We can be about 99% certain that rain will not affect our wedding plans. But hopefully the info above will help You realize that the conditions on the coast can vary. Please expect warm to mild conditions before sundown and mild to cool conditions for night time. We will have propane heaters just in case, but Your light jacket or warm sweater should be within reach. We truly want everyone to be cozy, comfy and having a great time.
